FASHION REVOLUTION

In the process of designing our poster we experimented with a variety of infographic symbols, to see what worked best together.
We looked at creating a combination of both simple & minmalistic graphics and more detailed graphics.
We took inspiration from other graphics we researched online and in books and also used our own creative intiatives. We also had to consider the current branding for Fashion Revolution to inkeep with there fonts and colour schemes.

The main graphic on the poster was the rice. It was important to get this graphic correct so that people could clearly see what it was allowing them to understand the point that the graphic was trying to convey. We started by looking at bowls of rice but them moved onto the bags as we were working out how many bags of rice they could buy on the different wages rather than how many bowls.
After this we moved onto the buttons which showed all the items that somone should be able to afford on a living wage. These included clothes, transport, accomadation, food, savings and education.
The first graphic we created was that T-shirt. We felt that a T-shirt was an obvious graphic to display clothes. We went for a simple shape to make it easily identifiable and to fit in with Fashion Revolution as it is similar but not the same as the graphic they use in their social media campaign. We went for a bright colour as most all of the Fashion Revolution colours are bright and attract your attention.
We then moved onto the car. Our first graphic for this was a simple black silhouette. This didn't fit as well with the Fashion Revolution look or with our other images as it was too simple. We then created a few other options gradually increasing the detail. Finally we added a bright colour.
Next we looked at the car graphic there was a similar process to this one as the car. We started off with a simple design. From this we changed the shape adding details and colour until we got to the finished design.
We then moved onto the knife and fork and the pound sign. These images were much simpler. We used a character sign for the pound sign and drew out a silhouette for the knife and fork.
The last graphic we made was the light bulb. We felt that the light bulb was the clearest graphic to use to represent education as it's usually associated with ideas. We created an outline first and then filled it with the bight yellow to make it fit in with the aesthetic of the poster.
